Reflection
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
2 Corinthians 3:17-18
Reflection
By Michael Orr
Reflection, I said, it’s been a while,
Since I saw you laugh or even smile,
At some small thing we both found funny,
To make our disposition sunny,
Reflection, I said, you’ve said some things,
That only dark reflection brings,
About how bad it’s been of late,
Or bad enough at any rate,
Reflection, I said, we’ve had some days,
Where we almost thought of parting ways,
Afraid to mirror what you would see,
When you saw the darkest part of me,
Reflection, I said, we’ve been through worse,
We’ve talked this out and can’t reverse,
The battles we have fought within,
To make our peace and start again.
Reflection, I said, pray words of peace,
Let joy return and darkness cease,
To dim the beauty in your eyes,
Or mask the truth in shallow lies.
Reflection, I said, we might be broken,
But hope remains when words are spoken,
Child of light, forgiven still,
Reflected in the Father’s will,
Reflection, I said, within your face,
I look upon the Savior’s grace,
From glory dim to brilliance gleaming,
With eyes attuned to love redeeming.
Reflection, I said, we’ll be okay,
Lift up your head and start your day,
Let storm and shadow fade from view,
And rejoice with me in all we do.
