14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again - 2 Corinthians 5:14-15

What Love Has to Say

There are times that I think I can do what I will, make plans for my life every day,

But as soon as I do, I find this is true, I don’t know just what love has to say.

For God has put in me a will to believe, that love will compel us to act,

And when I resist, though I strongly insist, I find I can’t help but react.

For love in my heart sparked of Spirit and Word, once ignited cannot be ignored,

And the price I would owe, to ignore what I know, is a cost I could never afford,

Yet if I am moved by the presence of God, I am certain He’ll show me the way,

For His voice is so clear, when His presence is near, and I hear just what love has to say.

Now a long time ago when my heart was still young, I first heard the voice speak aloud,

And my struggle and strain, to ignore him was vain, though my hearts was both stubborn and proud,

I tried to deflect, to little effect, with the reasons I just couldn’t stay,

But His voice said within, I can cleanse you of sin, when I heard just what love has to say.

Now in helping the hurting, or loving the broken, I know that their cause needs addressing,

For the call of heart, will not ever depart, when the needs of so many are pressing,

After all, it was Christ who took pity on me, when he took all my burdens away,

How could I ignore, when the hurting implore, that I hear just what love has to say?

So no matter what comes, and no matter what is, I will lend to Him all of my strength,

I’ll list to His call, I’ll give Him my all, and heed what He tells me at length,

And I’ll long for that moment, when I hear him in person, cry out that today is the day,

I’ll see and rejoice, when I hear His sweet voice, and I’ll know just what love has to say.
